In 2024, the Buffalo Bills plan to depend on a group of young offensive players with rookie contracts. Despite this, fantasy football expert Michael Fabiano believes this reliance will not be an issue. According to Fabiano, Bills’ running back James Cook and tight end Dalton Kincaid are amongst the top breakout candidates for the upcoming season. Fabiano included both Cook and Kincaid in his selected lineup of breakout players for 2024.
Buffalo is the only NFL team with multiple players on the list, including Dolphins’ rising star De’Vone Achane and standout running back Cook. Additionally, wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson represent Ohio State in the NFL. Cook and Kincaid had successful seasons in 2023 and are poised to excel further in Buffalo’s offense. Cook, now the starting running back, ranked third in yards from scrimmage among NFL rushers, with solid averages per rush and reception. Kincaid, a first-round pick in 2023, smoothly transitioned into the professional league, setting a rookie reception record for the Bills and showcasing an impressive catch rate.
“Cook was a decent player in PPR leagues last season, ending as the RB12. His fantasy point average of 13.7 per game, however, was hardly among the top 20 among running backs. I believe he will perform better in 2024. Why? Cook averaged 19.6 touches and 16.4 PPR points during the Bills’ offensive takeover last season under offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Over a full year, those totals would represent a true breakthrough.”
While Dawson Knox was playing, Kincaid had moments of brilliance as a rookie, but he was unreliable and difficult to rely on. But with Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs out of the lineup this season, Kincaid is sure to see regular targets. In fact, I can see him vying for the top spot among tight end
