Maybe the recent trade of star pass rusher Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons hasn’t fully sunk in for New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson yet.
Stevenson might still be reflecting on the organization bidding farewell to legendary head coach Bill Belichick earlier this year.
Regardless, the Patriots’ top offensive player experienced a comical mix-up while being interviewed on the sideline by WBZ TV’s Steve Burton during the third quarter of the team’s preseason matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.
Burton inquired about the recently departed individual and inquired about the impact of his absence and who would fill his role. Stevenson expressed his fondness for Bill, the departed coach, and noted Jerod Mayo’s leadership qualities as a replacement. The journalist clarified that he was referring to Judon’s departure, not Mayo. Stevenson acknowledged Judon’s departure and expressed excitement for his future opportunities. Following unsuccessful contract negotiations, the Patriots traded Judon to the Falcons for a 2025 third-round pick. Belichick and the team reached a mutual agreement to part ways in January.
