Lately, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have been incredible. This previous week, they had four games, three of which were away from home. Indiana is currently 17-16 on the season after winning all four games.
The Fever beat the Phoenix Mercury to move up to the No. 6 slot in the league, marking the first time this year that they are above.500.
For this reason, it should come as no surprise that the Fever, who are now on the rise, are ranked higher in the most recent weekly edition of ESPN’s WNBA power rankings. Clark and company moved up to the No. 4 slot on the list, surpassing the three-peat-chasing Las Vegas Aces, who were ranked fifth last week.
“The rest of the Fever are contributing as much as Mitchell, Clark, and Boston have,” said Michael Voepel, senior writer for ESPN. “For the last three games, NaLyssa Smith has scored ten or more goals. Known for her unwavering defence, Lexie Hull has scored ten or more points in four of the last seven games for the Fever.
Only twice in Indiana’s first 26 games did Hull do it. Veteran leaders Temi Fagbenle and Damiris Dantas have significantly bolstered the bench.”
Nothing here seems to be false.
Fans of X, the previous Twitter, have undoubtedly noticed Indiana’s quick ascent, and their opinions on Clark and the Fever are unanimous.
“After the first week, we were the dead 12th! A supporter said, “#FeverRising has a new meaning to it.”
“It’s fever season,” someone commented.
The supporters are rejoicing in the Fever’s ascent to prominence since they are one of, if not the, hottest team in the WNBA right now.
In actuality, Clark and the Fever still have a long way to go even if they have accomplished a lot this season. This club will exert every effort to maintain momentum as they try to raise their league standing with seven games left in the regular season.
The real work starts on September 22nd, when the WNBA Playoffs begin.
