At the beginning of the second season, PWHL Toronto is giving hints about the possible design of its new name and logo.
The squad teased a potential new name and logo for the team on social media on Thursday afternoon. The message featured a blue image of the monarch with the date Sept. 9, 2024 superimposed on it.
Nearly prepared to dominate the rink,” a note that went with the item stated.
The league itself published a picture with Monday’s date on it along with the words, “A new era is coming,” hinting at an announcement on the same day.
While the search for official team names and logos is still ongoing, all six teams competed in the inaugural season with players donning uniforms bearing generic city names and colours.
Throughout the season, there was a lot of conjecture among fans over the projected names.
The PWHL may have already applied for trademarks for the proposed team names in the United States, according to a DetroitHockey.Net source.
The Toronto Torch, Ottawa Alert, Montreal Echo, New York Sound, Boston Wicked, and Minnesota Superior were those titles, according to that source.
All of that never happened, and the league hasn’t said anything about the acquisition of the rights to award each team with its proper name and emblems.
PWHL Toronto announced earlier this week that the team will be hosting its home games at the Coca-Cola Coliseum, a much-larger venue compared to the Mattamy Athletic Centre where most of the regular-season games were hosted.
