Roy, who was widely anticipated to begin the season with the Montreal Canadiens—especially after Patrik Laine’s unfortunate injury—received a warning from management, as reported by Renaud Lavoie. Lavoie referred to it as a “slap on the wrist.”
According to the Canadiens’ management, Joshua Roy has been told to return to Laval and demonstrate his capabilities rather than simply being assigned to a lower line or as the 13th forward. Lavoie expressed that he still expects Roy to make a quick return to Montreal.
Additionally, Alex Barré-Boulet, who has recently been put on waivers without being picked up, will be joining Roy on the Laval Rocket. This development makes Pascal Vincent’s offensive lineup quite intriguing.
For Roy to advance past players like Oliver Kapanen, Emil Heineman, and Barré-Boulet in the Canadiens’ roster, he must prove himself. It’s important to note that talent is not a concern for Roy, who, at 21, has yet to score points in his two games this season with Laval.
