The NHL is seeing more waiver wire activity today, with significant changes occurring this week.
Elliotte Friedman has just reported that Chad Ruhwedel, who was put on waivers yesterday, went unclaimed. Additionally, the Minnesota Wild have placed Pavel Novak on unconditional waivers in order to terminate his contract.
Moreover, two other notable players have been placed on regular waivers. Kailer Yamamoto, 26, is a 5-foot-9, 178-pound forward selected 22nd overall in the 2017 draft by the Edmonton Oilers. In his NHL career, he has tallied 134 points in 306 games, with 16 points in 59 games last season. During his rookie season, he achieved 26 points in 27 games with the Oilers.
The other player, Riley Tufte, is also 26 but stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 230 pounds. Drafted 25th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2016, he has recorded 3 points in 20 NHL games, but recently posted 45 points in 67 American Hockey League games.
A decision regarding these players will be made by tomorrow at 2:00 PM, with more updates to come.
It’s important to mention that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens currently hold a top-5 priority for claiming players off waivers.
