The Buffalo Bills are beginning to realize the potential of rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman, who has delivered impressive performances in Weeks 7 and 8. His standout game came during the Bills’ 31-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, where a remarkable play showcased why he was a high pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
In the first quarter, Josh Allen found Coleman with a two-yard touchdown on a fade route, where Coleman made the catch with one hand despite being closely covered by former Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen. Coleman described the play, which could be among the season’s best, as a routine act.
“It was a simple football play,” Coleman said post-game. “We had a mix-up on the first attempt, so I told [Allen] to throw it higher and give me another chance. He did, and I made the catch.”
Teammate Khalil Shakir had a different perspective, calling it a “big boy play.”
Coleman ended the game with five receptions for 70 yards and one touchdown, leading the team with three touchdown catches and ranking second in receiving yards with 396. Over the last two games, he has recorded nine receptions for 195 yards, the highest among Buffalo receivers during that span.
The Bills drafted Coleman 33rd overall in the 2024 draft with hopes he would evolve into a dependable target in the red zone and for contested catches, a role he is rapidly fulfilling. Together with Shakir and recently acquired Amari Cooper, Coleman is helping to form a strong trio that is vital to maintaining the success of Buffalo’s passing game.
