As anticipated, a shift has occurred within the Montreal Canadiens organization with a confirmed personnel change in Laval.
Goaltender Luke Cavallin has been promoted to the Laval Rocket due to an injury sustained by Jakub Dobes, which unfortunately comes at an inconvenient time for him. The talented Anthony Marcotte recently shared updates about Dobes, who some fans hope will be called up to the Canadiens.
However, that will have to be postponed.
“There are concerns regarding Jakub Dobes’s health after he got injured with just 4 seconds left in the game. Connor Hughes will start for the Rocket against the Bruins tonight, with Luke Cavallin serving as the backup. This means Dobes will not be in goal this weekend due to a lower-body injury, and he is absent from the ice this morning.”
It appears Dobes has sustained a lower-body injury.
This injury comes at a particularly unfortunate time for Jakub Dobes. Once he recovers, it will be interesting to see if Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton consider giving him a shot with the main squad.
After all, Dobes ended last season with the Laval Rocket on a high note, has started this season well, and had a solid training camp with the Montreal Canadiens.
This is a situation worth monitoring.
At 23 years old and standing 6-foot-5, Dobes boasts a 4-0-0 record this season in Laval, with a save percentage of 0.910.
In contrast, 28-year-old Connor Hughes, who is 6-foot-4, has a 2-1-0 record this season in Laval, with a notable save percentage of 0.939.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Luke Cavallin, who is 6-foot-1, has a record of 0-2-0 this season with the Trois-Rivières Lions but maintains an impressive save percentage of 0.942.
