Arvid Soderblom recorded 37 saves to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Connor Bedard contributed with three assists, while Taylor Hall added two for the Blackhawks, who have triumphed in three of their last four games.
The Ducks, who have lost four of their last five, saw goals from Brock McGinn and Mason McTavish, with Lukas Dostal making 25 saves. Anaheim dominated the early stages, holding an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal by the ten-minute mark of the first period.
However, the Blackhawks were the first to score. Bedard assisted Isaak Phillips, whose snap shot from the left circle slipped past a screened Dostal at 12:57. Teuvo Teravainen extended the lead to 2-0 with a power-play goal at 16:44, receiving a setup from Hall for a one-timer from the right circle.
Seth Jones increased the lead to 3-0 with another power-play goal at 18:05 of the second period, connecting on a one-timer from the left circle after being set up by Bedard.
In the third period, the Ducks intensified their efforts. Cutter Gauthier and Alex Killorn had opportunities early on but failed to capitalize. Later in the period, Soderblom managed to deflect Killorn’s backhand attempt wide.
The Ducks finally found the net at 10:16 when McGinn scored after receiving a pass from Ross Johnston. Ryan Donato increased Chicago’s lead to 4-1 at 17:43, netting the puck during a scramble at the side of the goal. McTavish added a power-play goal with just four seconds left, finalizing the score at 4-2.
