In his second year with the Chicago Blackhawks, Connor Bedard is taking on significant responsibility as the team aims to re-enter the playoff race. After a rough showing in 2024-25, there is optimism that Bedard’s leadership will help the team improve soon.
During an appearance on Frankly Speaking with Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli, Bedard shared his experiences adapting to the spotlight in 2023-24 and expressed his aspirations for the Blackhawks’ future.
Frank Seravalli asked Bedard about whether the attention from his first year had overwhelmed him given his reserved nature. Bedard responded that it has been a gradual adjustment. He mentioned that he’s not particularly keen on being in front of the camera, unlike some players who enjoy showcasing their personality. He acknowledged that while it’s not his favorite aspect, he understands it’s part of being an athlete.
Seravalli then inquired about the atmosphere this year with more support and veteran players joining the team. Bedard conveyed that there’s a positive feeling among the team and a strong desire to win, especially after a disappointing previous season. Motivated by summer training, the team has brought in several experienced players who have won Stanley Cups. He noted that their ambition to avoid losing drives the team’s daily practices to be intense and high-energy. Although they still need to secure more wins, Bedard feels they are heading in a promising direction.
