Prior to the Champions Classic matchup on Tuesday featuring No. 19 Kentucky and No. 6 Duke, multiple Blue Devils were overheard claiming, “They can’t compete with us,” in reference to the Wildcats.
Adding to the disrespect, Duke fans mocked Kerr Kriisa’s mustache during the game.
Fortunately for Kriisa, he had the last laugh as Kentucky overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to secure a 77-72 victory.
After the game, Kriisa made sure to point out the Duke fans, saying, “I had these Duke people talking crazy at me all game about the ‘stache. When I went to talk to them afterward, they were gone. So, if you’re the Duke fan who was courtside…you know the ‘stache did its job.”
Indeed, the mustache made an impact. Kriisa shared with @TheFieldOf68 that a Duke fan had been trash-talking him throughout the game about his facial hair, stating, “When I went to speak with them afterward, they had left. So if you’re the Duke fan by the courtside, know that the mustache did the work.” Duke players were also heard shouting, “They can’t play with us!” from their locker room.
