While many experts argue that Cayden Primeau should be placed on NHL waivers, there’s an interesting update. The Stanley25 team, consisting of Jean Trudel and Maxime Truman, has just released a new episode filled with captivating insights.
Their guest is the talented Tony Marinaro, and we highly recommend checking out the interview.
One particular remark from Maxime Truman, who has reliable sources, stood out to me. We have no reason to question his information.
Kent Hughes received better trade offers for Cayden Primeau compared to those for Jake Allen, as highlighted in the conversation.
“Last year, they received better offers for Cayden Primeau than they did for Jake Allen… and they traded Jake Allen.”
– Maxime Truman
Clearly, this appears to have been a misstep.
Allen is performing well this season in New Jersey, boasting a save percentage of 0.914 and a goals-against average of 2.35.
In contrast, Primeau, age 25, is struggling with an unacceptable save percentage of 0.845 and a goals-against average of 4.67 this season. Since Allen was ultimately traded for a conditional 2nd-round draft pick, likely to turn into a 3rd-round pick, it suggests that Primeau had a higher value just a few months back.
What do you think—should the Canadiens have traded Cayden Primeau?
We remain hopeful that Primeau can turn his performance around, but his start has certainly been underwhelming.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he proves everyone wrong.
