The 2025 basketball recruiting cycle is picking up momentum, with eight of the top 15 players already committed. This number is expected to rise as the season unfolds, particularly with four-star recruit Davion Hannah set to announce his decision on Friday afternoon.
Ranked No. 32 nationally by the On3 Industry Rankings, Hannah is choosing between Alabama, Cincinnati, Missouri, and Ohio State. Alabama is the frontrunner to secure the Link Academy standout, with On3’s Joe Tipton predicting he will join the Crimson Tide.
The six-foot-five, 180-pound combo guard recently shared his expectations for a college program in an interview with On3.
“I’m seeking a school and coach who are honest with me,” Hannah stated. “I want someone to tell me what I need to hear, not just what I want to hear. I’ll pay attention to the atmosphere around the program; I prefer to avoid negative energy because it doesn’t work well for me. Most importantly, I want to win.”
On3’s Jamie Shaw analyzed Hannah’s playing style and what he could contribute in Tuscaloosa.
“What stands out about Davion Hannah is his explosive speed,” Shaw noted. “He excels when driving towards the basket, can elevate during transitions, and moves effectively in straight lines. While he poses a threat as a pull-up shooter, he’ll need to work on his shooting consistency from outside. He’s comfortable with the ball in the half-court, but improving his decision-making is important. His athleticism also translates to defense; he’s an agile competitor with a solid frame that has potential. While he could improve his efficiency, he possesses numerous skills, and his competitive drive translates into effective play.”
Currently, Alabama boasts the No. 9 recruiting class nationwide, according to On3, with commitments from four-star players Amari Allen (small forward) and London Jemison (power forward).
