Mark Pope and the Kentucky coaching team are pursuing one final five-star recruit for the 2025 class: Caleb Wilson. Currently ranked as the fifth-best player in the 247Sports composite rankings, the 6’9 power forward has been a top priority for Coach Pope and his staff, although he has not made significant progress toward a decision.
Wilson has narrowed his choices to five schools: Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio State, UCF, and Tennessee. He intends to decide on his college destination in either December or January.
While he has trimmed his options, it appears that Kentucky and North Carolina are the frontrunners in his recruitment. Coach Pope and Kentucky are optimistic about their chances with this elite power forward. However, the competition with North Carolina will be tough, as they are expected to make a strong push for Wilson. Fortunately for Kentucky, one of their current recruits, Acaden Lewis, is friends with Wilson, and they both wish to play together in college. This connection could assist the coaching staff in recruiting Wilson.
Coach Pope has already assembled a strong 2025 recruiting class, but securing Wilson would elevate it to an exceptional level. Although there’s still a long way to go, Coach Pope and his team appear to be well-positioned to attract one of the top players in the 2025 class.
