The Kentucky Wildcats took to the court on Tuesday night, swiftly defeating the Lipscomb Bisons at Rupp Arena. While Jaxson Robinson and Otega Oweh led the way, Koby Brea has been the standout player, consistently delivering exceptional offensive performance.
After transferring from Dayton last season, where he was the top three-point shooter in college basketball, Brea appears to be continuing that trend in Lexington. In the first four games of the season, he has made 15 out of 19 three-point attempts, an impressive shooting percentage of 78.9%. To highlight this achievement, Cory Price of the UK Sports Network pointed out that this percentage is superior to that of the leading free throw shooter for the Wildcats in 10 of the last 26 seasons.
Brea’s outstanding shooting has contributed to Kentucky making history with their three-point performance; this is the first time in the program’s history that they have made at least 10 three-pointers in each of their first four games. Price also highlighted that this marks the first Kentucky basketball team to score 97 points or more in three out of their first four games since the 1970-71 season.
The interest from elite programs in Brea is understandable, and Kentucky is fortunate to have him, as their current offensive setup perfectly highlights his abilities.
