As Kentucky prepares for a season filled with three-point shots, having the best shooter in college basketball is a significant advantage for Mark Pope. Fortunately, Coach Pope has that standout player in Koby Brea.
Heading into the season, Brea was often highlighted as the top shooter in college basketball, and he has certainly proved that four games in. He is currently averaging 14.5 points per game, with an impressive shooting record of 15-19 from beyond the arc, translating to a remarkable 78.9% shooting rate. While it’s unlikely he will maintain that percentage throughout the season, he has the potential to shoot around 50% from three-point range.
After one game, Brea shared what fuels his confidence. He stated, “I draw confidence from my team and coaches. They instill a lot of trust in me, which makes everything easier. When on the court, things just flow, and I remain calm and patient, knowing good things will happen.”
Whenever Brea takes a shot, fans feel confident it will go in, and many expected him to excel within Coach Pope’s system—though his 15-19 performance from beyond the arc has exceeded all expectations.
With a self-assured Brea at the start of this season, other teams across the nation should be wary.
