Kentucky basketball recently celebrated a decisive 97-68 victory over Lipscomb, where standout guard Jaxson Robinson excelled in a comeback performance, scoring 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting, following a disappointing game against Duke in which he managed only 1 point and missed all four shots.
In the postgame press conference, Coach Mark Pope noted that Robinson maintained his defensive energy during the Duke game despite his offensive struggles, which contributed to his impressive showing against Lipscomb. On Thursday, Pope explained that one of the factors that attracted Robinson to Kentucky was the presence of Otega Oweh and Lamont Butler, as he was eager to improve his defensive skills by competing against them daily. He emphasized that both players are exceptional defenders, comparable to those found in the NBA, making the experience beneficial for both Robinson and teammate Koby Brea.
Pope highlighted the positive influence of Butler and Oweh’s defensive prowess on their teammates. With Robinson and Brea motivated to enhance their defensive capabilities, they have already started to adopt some of those skills just four games into the season.
