On April 13, JT Lindsey, a four-star running back from Alexandria High in Louisiana, announced his commitment to the LSU Tigers, securing his spot with head coach Brian Kelly and his team.
Lindsey is recognized as the No. 2 running back in Louisiana and ranks among the Top 10 in the nation. After receiving an offer from LSU, he promptly dedicated himself to the program.
LSU’s position coach, Frank Wilson, had made it clear that the goal was to recruit two running backs, despite having already secured a commitment from Harlem Berry, the nation’s top running back. Following an impressive senior season, Lindsey emerged as a leading prospect in the 2025 Recruiting Class, rising to become the No. 2 back in Louisiana.
Having surpassed Texas commit James Simon in the rankings, Lindsey’s commitment solidifies LSU’s future at the running back position alongside Berry.
The recent decision of five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood to decommit from LSU left the program vulnerable to interest from competing schools for its other recruits, including Lindsey, who received inquiries from various top programs.
However, Lindsey assured LSU Tigers On SI that he will not be considering any other visits and plans to officially sign with the Tigers on December 4 during the Early Signing Period. His performance speaks for itself, as he has already tallied 1,950 yards and 27 touchdowns this season and is currently focused on winning a state championship during the Louisiana playoffs.
In addition to Lindsey, Kade Phillips, a cornerback from Missouri City, Texas, also committed to LSU, switching from the Texas Longhorns in August after the Tigers intensified their efforts. Phillips, ranked as the No. 4 cornerback in the nation, achieved five-star status due to his outstanding senior year.
He has confirmed he will not entertain any other recruitment opportunities and aims to sign with LSU during the Early Signing Period. Phillips expressed his excitement about joining the team, stating he is ready to head to Baton Rouge.
Despite Texas attempting to entice him back, Phillips stayed loyal to LSU, opting not to visit Texas as previously rumored. He plans to return to Baton Rouge for an unofficial visit during the Oklahoma game next weekend.
According to On3’s Director of Scouting, Charles Power, Phillips possesses exceptional physical attributes for his position, highlighting his elite length and athleticism that make him versatile enough to play both corner and safety at the next level. LSU has successfully secured Phillips’ commitment after strong competition from Texas, and he will sign with the Tigers on December 4.
