Shane Wright will always be associated with the Montreal Canadiens due to the notable draft night in 2022. Canadiens fans will likely remember the forward for the Seattle Kraken and his intense look aimed at their table. Many still question what Juraj Slafkovsky’s future holds, and his rapid long-term contract hasn’t increased his critics’ opinion of him. While he has managed to score 13 points in 19 games this season, his mere two goals fall short of expectations for the Slovak player. Wright has experienced a fluctuating path since being drafted but appears to be finding his footing recently. After being scratched from games on November 17, 20, and 23, Wright seems to have responded positively. On Black Friday, the Kraken faced off against the San Jose Sharks, losing 8-5, but Wright matched Slafkovsky’s goal total for the entire season with two goals in that game. Over the last two and a half games, he has scored three goals and recorded five points. In the same match, Will Smith from the Sharks impressed with two points, bringing his total to six in the last three games. Wright’s recent scoring spurt has attracted attention, yet it’s important to note that Slafkovsky still holds a lead in total points, with 13 compared to Wright’s 7, despite Wright’s higher goal tally. Slafkovsky also adds a physical edge to his play, although he has several areas to work on this season.
