While many Canadiens fans were hopeful for the team’s performance this year, it’s becoming apparent that a high draft pick is on the horizon. The likelihood of participating in the lottery is much higher than that of entering the playoffs.
On a positive note, Kent Hughes will have the chance to choose a top-quality prospect in the forthcoming draft for the fourth consecutive year. According to HABSolumentFan, three prospects stand out as excellent fits for the Canadiens’ general manager.
These three forwards are James Hagens, Porter Martone, and Michael Misa.
Recognized as a standout in the 2025 class, Hagens is frequently compared to Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils. Recently, he expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of joining Montreal.
Martone, ranked by Craig Button as the top contender for the 2025 draft, is noted for being a true power forward. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 208 pounds, the right winger for the Brampton Steelheads currently sits second in league points and is set to display his skills at the upcoming World Junior Championship during the holidays.
Lastly, Michael Misa is an offensively gifted center who is leading the Ontario Junior Hockey League scoring race with an impressive 46 points in just 23 games, averaging two points per game. His team, the Saginaw Spirit, is the reigning Memorial Cup champion.
While another disappointing season may frustrate some Canadiens fans, they can take comfort in the prospect that one of these talented players could soon join their roster.
