The Ohio State Buckeyes have experienced a significant loss in their 2025 recruitment as four-star EDGE rusher London Merritt from Bradenton, Florida (IMG Academy) has decided to reopen his commitment.
Merritt, who had been committed to Ohio State since spring 2024, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he made the tough choice to de-commit from the Buckeyes.
It is uncommon for recruits to leave Ohio State, indicating that Merritt may anticipate something important ahead for him. Notably, he visited Colorado officially in October, where head coach Deion Sanders has been making strides in recruiting.
“Coach Prime” recently secured a commitment from elite quarterback recruit Julian Lewis, who had previously been committed to USC until Colorado’s interest intensified.
Could Merritt be considering Colorado next? On3’s prediction metrics are leaning toward the Buffaloes now that Merritt has reopened his recruitment.
As per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Merritt is currently the No. 13 EDGE recruit in the nation.
