The No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels are focused on defeating their in-state rival, Mississippi State, this Friday, but reports also reveal that 2025 five-star quarterback Deuce Knight is in Oxford for this year’s Egg Bowl.
On3 first reported Knight’s presence, and Ole Miss On SI has confirmed it through a source.
Knight, who plays for George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi, is currently committed to the Auburn Tigers, but Ole Miss has been working to change his mind during this season. He previously attended the game in Oxford when the Rebels played Georgia on November 9.
As per his team’s page on MaxPreps, Knight has amassed over 2,000 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and five interceptions in the 2024 season, along with 450 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
Ole Miss has successfully changed the commitment of another significant in-state player, wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, and swaying Knight to join their roster before Early Signing Day would greatly enhance Lane Kiffin’s recruiting efforts.
Currently, though, Ole Miss is focused on maintaining their slim chances for the College Football Playoff with a win against Mississippi State. If they secure the victory, they’ll be hoping for unexpected outcomes in the rankings during the rest of the weekend.
