Around the same time Patrik Laine got hurt, young defenseman David Reinbacher also faced a significant injury. Unfortunately, unlike his Finnish counterpart, he is not expected to return to action anytime soon.
With Reinbacher sidelined and unable to defend himself against critics, Matvei Michkov is making headlines with the Philadelphia Flyers. This must be particularly frustrating for the young Canadiens defenseman, as Michkov has racked up 27 points in 27 games this season, including eleven goals.
Despite these hurdles, the Canadiens organization is committed to supporting Reinbacher’s growth during his recovery. Martin St-Louis recently mentioned:

The Canadiens are doing everything they can to support young David Reinbacher. Interestingly, he also visited the children’s hospital with the team yesterday, which, although small gestures, can significantly impact the mindset of the 20-year-old defenseman chosen 5th overall in 2023.
Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 207 pounds, Reinbacher had 5 points in 11 games with the Laval Rocket last season and had a promising training camp with the main team. We look forward to seeing him back on the ice!
