The Golden State Warriors are set to compete against the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day in a Pacific Division clash. Although both teams are not performing particularly well at the moment, they each harbor championship ambitions anchored by their aging star players.
With the NBA trade deadline approaching, both teams are expected to be active in the market. The Warriors have already made a move by trading for veteran guard Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets. Although Schroder hasn’t yet made a significant impact in Golden State, shooting only eight out of 29 on field goal attempts since the trade, he is anticipated to play an important role for the team.
Having played for the Lakers during the 2021 and 2023 seasons, Schroder’s presence is noted by Lakers star Anthony Davis, who spoke to reporters ahead of the game against Golden State. “We always have battles with them,” Davis said, referring to the Warriors. “We’ve faced them in the playoffs a couple of times. They added Dennis to their team, which is a solid acquisition for them. It’s going to be exciting to head to The Bay and try to secure a win on Christmas Day.” The Warriors’ record stands at 1-2 during Schroder’s three games with the team, having beaten the Minnesota Timberwolves while losing to the Memphis Grizzlies and Indiana Pacers. As previously mentioned, he has struggled with his shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, where he has made only 1 out of 11 attempts since joining the team.
