This week, the Wisconsin Badgers made a notable acquisition at cornerback by securing Geimere Latimer II from Jacksonville State through the transfer portal to strengthen that position.
Latimer, standing at 5’10 and weighing 190 pounds, was a key player for Jacksonville State last season, achieving All-Conference USA accolades while amassing 46 tackles, five pass breakups, and three interceptions during his sophomore year.
He joins a cornerback group that will return only three players in 2025: Ricardo Hallman, Jay Harper, and Omillio Agard.
Latimer adds both depth and experience to the team, but his presence may also play a significant role in recruiting efforts.
For the 2026 recruiting class, the Badgers have begun prioritizing targets, with a focus on running backs after not signing any in 2025. High on their list is four-star running back Amari Latimer, Geimere’s younger brother.
As a junior in high school, Amari has received 26 offers from various top SEC and Big Ten programs. Although he currently has a prediction favoring the Texas Longhorns, Wisconsin’s recent connection through Geimere might influence his decision, especially since the Badgers had already been actively recruiting him prior to his brother’s signing.
Could both brothers become a significant duo for Wisconsin?
