Since Klay Thompson departed the Golden State Warriors to join the Dallas Mavericks in free agency, fans of Stephen Curry’s team have been contemplating a potential major shift within the franchise. Despite acquiring Dennis Schroder, it’s clear that the Warriors require another adjustment, as evidenced by their 16-16 record. A local radio host raised questions about the trade possibilities for a Warriors star during this tough period.
While Draymond Green is renowned for his defensive skills, play-making abilities, and strong rapport with Curry, his shortcomings have historically placed the Warriors in challenging situations.
Over his 12-year career, Green’s aggressive defense, erratic behavior toward referees, and questionable physical interactions—sometimes affecting opponents and even teammates—have proven costly for the team.
Without detailing the numerous infractions Green has committed, it’s evident that a franchise can only endure so much negative publicity, especially during a losing season when such issues are magnified compared to the glory days of multiple championships.
Evan Giddings from 95.7 The Game proposed that Green should not be considered untouchable in trade discussions.
“I don’t think Draymond’s necessarily off the table just because he’s a culture guy…This season might tell us that they need to change their culture because that culture is no longer playoff caliber,” Giddings stated.
Though it’s difficult to imagine the Warriors without Green, the team would be remiss not to pursue a trade for a better player if it could help prolong Curry’s competitive window. Green’s contributions to the team’s championship success will be remembered, but so too will the failure to capitalize on opportunities to build a winning organization around their franchise cornerstone, Curry.
