The Nebraska football team has experienced notable success in the transfer portal recently, securing former Kentucky wide receiver Hardley Gilmore IV as a replacement for Jaylen Lloyd.
The talented freshman receiver brings impressive speed and skill to the team, marking another addition from Kentucky by new wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts. However, he must first address some past issues. Gilmore IV was one of two Kentucky players cited for a criminal charge in December, but joining Nebraska may actually work to his advantage as he steps away from the circumstances that led to his legal troubles.
According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Gilmore was charged with misdemeanor assault on December 7 after allegedly striking someone in the face at a storage unit in Lexington. Currently, there are no updates regarding any potential court proceedings, but since it’s a misdemeanor, he might qualify for diversion treatment.
It’s hoped that Hardley Gilmore can move past this incident and concentrate on delivering an impressive 2025 season for Nebraska, building on his previous performance of 6 catches for 153 yards and 1 touchdown, averaging 25.5 yards per reception in 2024. He joins fellow transfer Dane Key in the Huskers’ wide receiver lineup.
