Luke Fickell and the University of Wisconsin football program are looking to returning players like Trech Kekahuna to support the implementation of the new offensive scheme under coordinator Jeff Grimes.
With significant changes and player turnover during the offseason, the redshirt sophomore wide receiver is expected to play an important role in a receiving group eager to advance in 2025.
Kekahuna, who recorded 25 receptions for 339 yards and two touchdowns last season, recently posted a bold declaration on social media: “Coming for it all.” This confident remark precedes a crucial season for the Badgers as they adjust to playing without starting slot receiver Will Pauling, who has entered the transfer portal.
Kekahuna’s strongest performance in 2024 was against Purdue, where he made six catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns. However, his level of participation was often inconsistent throughout the season under Phil Longo.
According to Pro Football Focus, Kekahuna earned an overall offensive grade of 66.3 and a receiving grade of 67.7 for the season.
New wide receivers coach Jordan Reid has expressed enthusiasm for the 5-foot-10 playmaker and his contributions to the team.
“I’m really excited about that room right now,” Reid said. “We have returners like Vinny Anthony and Trech Kekahuna—two players I’m looking forward to working with. Both had significant production last year, and we anticipate great things from them this season.”
As Kekahuna prepares for a larger role with the Badgers next season, his confidence mirrors the optimistic attitude within the program as Wisconsin adapts to its revamped offense.
