Travis Hunter, particularly after winning the Heisman, is widely regarded as one of the top football players in recent history, with the president of the Titans agreeing. However, Mel Kiper Jr. is not convinced that he will be the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Chad Brinker, the Titans’ president of football operations, suggested on Wednesday that the team plans to select Hunter with the top pick in this year’s draft. “We won’t overlook a generational talent with the first pick in the NFL draft,” Brinker stated.
Despite this commendation, Kiper doubts that Hunter will be the top selection. He anticipates that the Titans will choose Cam Ward first, pointing out that “After that, you look at pick number two.” He emphasized that although Hunter is the best player available, with the Browns needing a standout wide receiver, they could opt for him instead of the quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.
Interestingly, Kiper sees Hunter going second despite labeling him as the draft’s top player. While teams do need to address multiple areas rather than just talent at existing positions, the Titans are in dire need of a quarterback. If they bypass what Kiper calls a “generational talent,” it could lead to a regrettable situation if they can’t secure a promising QB for the future.
