This week, USA TODAY Sports published its final college football letter grades for the 2024 season, and the Colorado Buffaloes were among 17 teams to achieve an “A” or higher.
Although they did not reach the Big 12 championship game, the Buffs made significant progress in Deion Sanders’ second year as head coach. Colorado recorded nine regular season victories, marking their first appearance in a non-COVID bowl game since 2016.
In the Big 12, BYU received an A-, Colorado and Iowa State earned an A, and conference champion Arizona State was awarded an A+. Additionally, three unexpected College Football Playoff teams—Boise State, Indiana, and SMU—also received an A+ rating.
Given that the Buffs improved their record by five wins, an A grade is justified. Many had anticipated Coach Prime’s team would struggle and finish near the bottom of the conference, as they were predicted to place 11th in the preseason Big 12 media poll.
