After defeating Cape Verde, Super Falcons interim head coach Justin Madugu is optimistic that his team can qualify for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
At the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Thursday, the Nigerian Ladies will host the Cape Verdeans in the first leg of their final round qualifying match.
The Falcons held a brief practice on Monday to begin getting ready for the contest.
Deborah Abiodun is still anticipated, and twenty of the twenty-one invited players are presently in the team’s camp.
Even though a number of important players, including Jennifer Echegini, Ifeoma Onumonu, Christy Ucheibe, and Asisat Oshoala, withdrew from the match, Madugu is optimistic that they can defeat their rival.
“We are not here to focus on the fact that we are missing a few regular players for various reasons. No matter what, wherever, or when, the Super Falcons squad will always be the Super Falcons. He stated to thenff.com, “We have players in camp who will do justice to the badge and get us the qualification ticket to the AFCON.”
“Of course, we would have preferred a few more days for the team to practice together, but we have to work within the constraints of the situation and make the most of the current setup. Each player in the camp will contribute in order for the Super Falcons to earn a trip to Morocco in 2024.
