LeBron James had mixed emotions after shattering the NBA record for most minutes played on a night he suffered one of his worst losses to date.
In the Los Angeles Lakers’ 138-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier today (Monday night in the United States), Lebron James, 38, scored eighteen points.
The 38-year-old American basketball legend shattered Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA record of 66,297 minutes in the first quarter of the game.
Be aware that James became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in February by surpassing Abdul-Jabbar, the legendary Lakers player, who held the record with 38,387 points.
Joel Embiid, who finished with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, led Philadelphia to a 44-point victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, their fourth win in their previous six games.
Anthony Davis, who finished with seventeen points and eleven rebounds, paced the Lakers, who had won four of their previous five games.
The winning margin exceeds the 42-point difference that separated the Lakers and Indiana Pacers in 2019—the biggest loss in Lebron James’ 21-year NBA career.
LeBron James made NBA history by becoming the first player to score 39,000 points in the in-season tournament, which took place more than six days ago when the LA Lakers upset the Utah Jazz.
He needed five points to break the record, but he scored 17 in a 131-99 victory over the Utah Jazz to ensure a ticket to the in-season tournament quarterfinals.
While teammate Anthony Davis scored 26 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, he concluded the game with nine assists and seven rebounds.
