Jason Whitlock, an NFL analyst, criticized Patrick Mahomes’ career, stating that it will never reach the level of Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, or Michael Jordan. Whitlock’s comparison doesn’t make sense since Mahomes was a first-round pick, unlike Brady, who was a late-round selection. Jordan was the third overall draft pick and is considered the greatest of all time in the NBA, while Woods displayed greatness from an early age.
Whitlock claimed that Mahomes lacks Brady’s drive to win and is satisfied with his success, citing his commercial deals, two MVP awards, and two Super Bowl wins. He also pointed out that Mahomes doesn’t have a peer to compete with, unlike Brady, who was always competing with Peyton Manning. Whitlock believes that Mahomes is going through the motions and making excuses for his struggles this season, such as not having Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce dating Taylor Swift.
Despite Whitlock’s criticism, Mahomes has already achieved a lot in his career, with two Super Bowl MVP awards and two MVP awards. Whitlock acknowledged that Mahomes will be a top-5 quarterback when it’s all said and done. Mahomes is in his seventh season in the NFL, and Jordan didn’t win his first ring until year seven before going on a historic championship run over the next decade.
