Typically, when an NBA player has a career night, they are met with praise and celebration. However, for Giannis Antetokounmpo, things didn’t quite go as planned. Despite scoring a career-high 64 points on Wednesday night, his achievement was overshadowed by a postgame altercation involving the Indiana Pacers “stealing” the game ball. In a fit of anger, Giannis caused chaos while attempting to retrieve the ball. Although the Pacers claimed they were giving the ball to a rookie for his first career point, it was later revealed that the player had already scored in a previous game. This supports Giannis’ frustration, which was validated by former NBA MVP and champion, Shaquille O’Neal. O’Neal believes that, according to the rules, the home team should receive the ball in both circumstances. Nonetheless, he understands why Giannis was upset and supports his actions. O’Neal, who has had his own share of scuffles in the past, including fights with Dennis Rodman and Charles Barkley, knows what it’s like to lose his cool on the court. He was also involved in a brawl between LSU and Tennessee during the 1992 SEC Tournament.
