Dwight Howard, a former NBA star, is requesting the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by Stephen Harper, who accused Howard of assaulting him during a consensual encounter in July 2021. Harper also alleged intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. Howard’s attorneys argue for an immediate dismissal, stating that the encounter was consensual and involved a third party. Howard previously denied the allegations in October and requested the court to dismiss the case. Additionally, Howard’s legal team accuses Harper of attempting to blackmail Howard by threatening to reveal personal details to his family if not paid. The court in Gwinnett County, Georgia, has yet to decide on the petition. Howard last played with the Lakers in the 2021/22 season and subsequently participated in Taiwan during the 2022/23 campaign.
