The number of early kickoffs Liverpool face following international breaks and midweek commitments has been a concern for Jurgen Klopp. Although Liverpool’s meeting with Brentford on February 17 will be their fifth lunchtime kickoff of the season, it will be the first not directly after a midweek fixture or international break. Premier League rules state that clubs can only be selected to play at that time six times per season, and Liverpool’s tally is now at five for 2023/24. The Reds have struggled in early kickoffs in recent years, but have a better record this season, with three wins and a draw away to Man City in their four fixtures. Liverpool will face Arsenal at 4.30pm on February 4, with significant implications for the title race. Klopp will face off against Mikel Arteta for the third time in six weeks, with both sides currently at the top of the table. Despite Klopp’s dislike of early kickoffs, he will be hopeful of continuing Liverpool’s positive record in that slot.
