Ryan Day secured his place in the Group One play-offs by winning all four of his matches on day one of the 2024 BetVictor Championship League Invitational at the Morningside Arena in Leicester. The event is being broadcast live on Matchroom.Live in the UK and Ireland, DAZN in the United States, Viaplay in Scandinavia and the Baltics, and other broadcasters worldwide. Day beat Gary Wilson 3-2, Stuart Bingham 3-1, Kyren Wilson 3-1, and Chris Wakelin 3-2 to top the group with a perfect record. Kyren Wilson finished the day with two wins out of three, while Wakelin has two wins from four matches. The tournament features seven players facing each other once in the round-robin group stage, with the top four progressing to Wednesday evening’s play-offs. The eventual group champion advances to March’s Winners’ Group, while the remaining players who finished in the top five during the league phase continue to Group Two which begins on Thursday. The bottom two players in each group phase are eliminated. All matches are best of five. The tournament carries a prize fund of £205,000, with players earning £100 per frame won, significant bonuses for their final group position, and increased prize money in the Winners’ Group. A place in the 2024 Champion of Champions is also up for grabs. The event continues on Wednesday from 11am with the conclusion of Group One.
